Get to know us
The Women's Initiative for Climate Action and Peace (WICAP) is a local women-led non-governmental organization founded in 2019 to promote peacebuilding, gender equality, and climate resilience across Southwest Somalia. The organization was established in response to the devastating social and environmental consequences of Somalia's long-standing conflicts and climate crises, which have deeply affected women, children, and marginalized communities.
WICAP emerged from a group of young Somali women who were driven by the urgent need to restore peace and address the compounded challenges of displacement, poverty, and environmental degradation. Through advocacy, education, and community empowerment initiatives, WICAP works to build sustainable livelihoods and foster inclusive peace.

Our mission
To empower women as catalysts for climate action and peace by advancing gender-responsive policies, building capacity, and fostering collaboration to create sustainable and peaceful communities.
Our vision
A world where women lead inclusive and sustainable climate solutions that foster peace, resilience, and equality for all communities.
