Futures for Somalia

WICAP is a grassroots women-led organization working at the intersection of climate action, environmental justice, and peacebuilding across Somalia's most vulnerable communities.

Somalia · Women-Led · Climate & Peace

Rooted in Somalia.
Built by Women.

——OUR MISSION

Founded in Mogadishu in 2019, WICAP emerged from a simple truth: Somalia's most marginalized communities face the triple burden of conflict, climate shocks, and gender inequality. Women, who make up the majority of those impacted, are too often excluded from the decisions that shape their lives.

We believe that meaningful climate action and lasting peace are only possible when Somali women are at the center — as leaders, decision-makers, and knowledge holders. Our work spans environmental restoration, conflict mediation, climate-adaptive livelihoods, and policy advocacy across six Somali regions.

Every drought survived, every tree planted, and every ceasefire brokered by our members is proof that women-led solutions are Somalia's most powerful resource.
